About Me

About Me

Hi there! My name is Sophia Lin, and I’m a junior in high school with a passion for archaeology. Ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated by artifacts and the stories they tell about our past. Archaeology’s complexity and its relevance to our futures has always drawn me in. I am currently involved in a Cultural Resource Management firm as a volunteer, where occasionally assist on-field with shovel probes and categorize, label, and clean artifacts to be sent to nearby museums, like the Burke Museum at University of Washington. Additionally, I am president of Dig Quest, a student-led 501(c)(3) non-profit founded to educate elementary and middle schoolers on archaeology and its importance, in a community where education on history and archaeology are not commonly received. I’ve also participated in the 2024 University of Wyoming field school in La Prele, Wyoming, where I excavated the La Prele mammoth site and worked with a professional archaeology team from across the US. I hope to connect with fellow enthusiasts, learn from experienced archaeologists, and inspire others to delve into the incredible world of archaeology through my archaeology journey. Join me as I embark on this adventure to unearth the past and guide others towards an appreciation for the field!

Why Archaeology Matters

Archaeology is not just about digging up the past. It’s about understanding how civilizations lived, evolved, and interacted. It helps us learn from history and shapes our future.
